Motor vehicle accidents happen in a flash, and their aftermath can leave you feeling distraught and confused. Even worse, an accident can inflict serious personal injury or even death.
Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can be a very traumatic event that has long-lasting effects on a person.
A wrong-way driver on the 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar was arrested after an early morning accident with multiple vehicles that left six people dead – and closed lanes on the freeway in both directions for hours.
The 21-year old Fontana driver was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving and felony manslaughter. Investigators believe alcohol was involved after what they found in the vehicle.
People in all three of the involved vehicles were injured. The wrong-way driver was listed in serious condition after sustaining a fractured femur and ruptured bladder and one other person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was traveling east when she collided head-on with an SUV. The sequence involving the other vehicles was not immediately clear; however, at least two people were ejected from their vehicles.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Two others were taken to a nearby hospital where they later died.
A CHP spokesman said, “This tragedy is 100 percent preventable.”
My thoughts and prayers are with the families after this tragic accident. I also wish those injured a complete and speedy recovery.
