According to the Sacramento County Coroner, the first fatality identified from the tragic bus wreck in Northern California on Thursday was a 26 year old Rancho Cucamonga man, Arthur Arzola.
Mr. Arzola was Humboldt State University admissions counselor traveling to the college in one of three charter buses carrying prospective students from Southern California for a tour of the Humboldt campus. Tragically he never made it when a FedEx freight truck traveling southbound on the I-5 freeway near Orland, crossed the grassy median and collided with the northbound bus killing him and 9 others.
Mr. Arzola was a Cal State University San Bernardino graduate who had a passion for working with underprivileged students. He invested much time in guiding these youths toward college. He had been a mentor for college-bound Latino youths at Inland Empire Future Leaders, based in Grand Terrace.
