Heavy Traffic Causes Another Motorcycle Accident

With the warm Southern California weather, many individuals have taken to riding motorcycles on a daily basis.

Recently a 54-year old man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle, crashing into another vehicle. The impact then sent the victim onto the right shoulder where he then struck the guardrail, causing him to be ejected – he fell about 60 feet down an embankment on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family members of the victim for their tragic and heartbreaking loss.

Because of the daily traffic on California freeways and roads, motorcycle accidents are common. The majority of accidents happen because a vehicle striking the motorcycle rider didn’t see the bike. While motorcycles are more dangerous for the rider than a car or truck, the rules of the road apply to everyone.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycle accident fatalities in San Bernardino County have increased over the last several years. According to their report, the increase is due mostly to more motorcycles on the road, older riders, unlicensed riders, riding under the influence and bigger engines, causing the rider to ride faster. In addition, there seems to be more careless and negligent riders on the roads – some too busy talking on their cell phones to pay attention to what’s around them.

A California Highway Patrol Traffic report indicated that in a recent year, there were more than 25 motorcyclists killed and more than four hundred riders injured in accidents in San Bernardino County.
